COVID-19: 10,000 persons expected to be tested next week – Akufo-Addo

In the wake of increasing numbers of positive cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic, some 10,000 people in the country are expected to be tested in the coming week.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his sixth address to the nation on the update of the coronavirus, explained that 10,000 of the general populace will be tested to aid in advising the government on the way forward.

“We expect to test about 10,000 people next week, for the way forward,” the president said. The president reiterated that measures taken by government has saved lives.

In his address, the president added that the number of confirmed cases is now at 378.

“192 of the cases came from travellers, who entered our country before the closure of the borders. 79 percent of the 378 confirmed cases are thus imported,” he said.
