JarkWayne Missions, a US-based Non-Governmental Organsation, has donated some essential items to the Adabraka Polyclinic to support the fight against the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

The items include hand-sanitizers, surgical masks, disposable gloves, Veronica buckets among others.

In an interview with Mr. Alexander Gyan, Project Manager for JarkWayne Missions, he noted that it is important for every individual and organization to contribute their quo-ta in the fight against COVID-19.

He said the organization believes that in order to alleviate the burden on government and the hospital, they need to support in a way that would totally contribute to the eradication of the pandemic.

“Nobody has too little to help another especially in this time. This is what drives us at JarkWayne Missions. We wholeheartedly believe that we all have a role to play regardless of how much we have, to help lessen the burden of the needy and vulnerable among us”, said Mr. Gyan.

Throwing more light on the organisation’s activities, Mr. Gyan said: “Our vision is to provide support and empowerment initiatives with core interest in education for sustainable future for the youth without compromising integrity and hard work while leveraging on partnerships for development”.

Receiving the items, Doctor Abdul Razak Quao, Head of Facility and Director of Health Services, Osu-Klottey Sub-Metro, expressed gratitude to the JarkWayne Missions for the gesture.

He said: “We are grateful to JarkWayne for this kind gesture. This donation will go a long way in the fight against COVID-19. This disease is related to personal hygiene and these are all the things that we need to enhance it.”

According to Dr. Quao, even though government is playing its part to eradicate the pandemic, there is the need for individuals and other organisations to emulate the action of the JarkWayne Missions.

Touching on challenges, Dr. Quao cited reduced patient numbers as a major challenge. He said curbing COVID-19 requires much revenue and this has affected it.

“We are also not generating enough for PPE. The issue of people still not getting what the whole disease is about is another challenge. So, even though we are keeping on with enhanced education, there are patients who still sit close to each other even when we educate them not to”, he added.
