The Suma Rural Bank Limited, headquartered at Suma-Ahankro in the Jaman North district of Bono Region, has joined the fight against coronavirus with a donation of assorted sanitary items to selected health facilities, police and some traditional councils within its catchment area.

The sanitary items estimated at GH¢10,000 included Veronica buckets, liquid soaps, paper tissue, alcohol-based hand sanitisers and nose masks. The beneficiary health institutions were Sampa Government Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital at Drobo, Goka Health Centre, Suma-Ahenkro Presbyterian Health Centre, and Brodi Health Centre.

Handing over the items to beneficiary institutions, Martin Adjei Amponsah – General Manager of Suma Rural Bank, said it is imperative to support the fight against COVID-19, particularly in the Jaman enclave, to promote a healthy business environment. This is also to show appreciation to its customers and operational communities, he added.

He used the opportunity to join the call for the public to comply with the prescribed safety protocols including periodic handwashing and sanitising, social distancing, and wearing nose masks among others. “You need to stay safe and healthy to do business, so therefore we must respect the president’s directives as well as health experts’ recommendations.”

The General Manager gave firm assurance that the bank will remain resolute in and after the COVID-19 storm to support the revival of businesses. “The bank is committed to help revive the economy; we are willing to offer financial support to enterprises, especially micro businesses that have gone into coma due to outbreak of the pandemic.”

On behalf of the beneficiary institutions, a Nursing Administrator of St. Mary’s Hospital at Drobo, Bridget Rebecca Kyere, thanked the bank for its intervention – indicating that rural health facilities are battling with insufficient medical supplies and PPE. She therefore made a passionate appeal for corporate institutions to go to the aid of such facilities in this abnormal period.
