WTC engages partners to explore opportunities in Africa’s digital economy

World Trade Centre Accra (WTC Accra) will be collaborating with 13 partners from around the world including the Ministry of Communications in Ghana and Ghana Exim Bank and a faculty of public sector representatives and leading experts in the digital economy to explore opportunities and trends in the digital economy in Africa during the upcoming Africa Digital Economy Summit (ADES 2020) to be conducted virtually on November 25, 2020.

ADES 2020 will be a half-day knowledge-sharing platform, which will explore the growing digital economy in Africa and provide insights into new opportunities to further enhance its growth for the maximum socio-economic betterment of the continent.

The summit will present content along thematic areas such as e-governance and the taxation of digital platforms, digital technology in agriculture, digital infrastructure, megatrends such as automation, AI & data analytics, blockchain, digital policy and regulation and many more.

The virtual summit will host conference sessions as well as sectorial B2B Deal Rooms to facilitate the exchange of commercial opportunities between participants.

Entities seeking to establish new businesses based on the digital economy will gain valuable insights into viable options while existing companies seeking to reinvent their business processes digitally, can acquire new knowledge on how to engineer their business processes to successfully grow and develop in an increasingly competitive and crowded market by participating in this webinar.

Providing further information on the upcoming summit, General Manager of WTC Accra, Edem Kofi Yevutsey revealed that the digital economy is one of the most promising sectors for growth and economic transformation of Africa with digital technologies being increasingly employed in the conduct of business and the delivery of public/social services on the internet.

He expressed the view that the surge in internet usage, the “breakneck speed” of mobile phone adoption in Africa which is faster than on any continent in the world and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area implementation will continue to create new opportunities in the digital economy in Africa.
