Seth Terkper writes: ‘President Mahama left a better economy’

Former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, has said government’s proposed Electronic Levy (E-Levy) will distort the tax structure, arguing that it will lead to paying double tax and also result in paying taxes on savings, which is inappropriate.

According to Seth Terkper, the Government keeps repeating that its predecessor left a weak economy at end-2016. In trumpeting this view, it deliberately ignores the legacy of opportunities created, despite major challenges.

Rather, its distortion of 2016 data and poor performance from 2017-to-date is exposing a worse legacy at end-2020.
