Burkina Faso Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Pingrenoma Zagre has commended the Bissa Fitness Club for its initiative which is aimed at improving the well-being of its members through fitness, as well as foster unity among the Bissa Ethnic Group and its adjoining tribes in Ghana.
“I am overwhelmingly thrilled that you have chosen to visit me and to tell me about the Bissa Fitness Club. I must admit I have heard about your club and the activities that you are engaged in, and I want to congratulate you all- the President and all other executives, right through to the general membership.
It is not an easy task bringing together people of all kinds and so, for you to have taken such a step is very commendable.”
These remarks came when executives of the club paid a visit to the Ambassador at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Accra, as part of the group’s engagement of some prominent individuals ahead of its official launch.
The visit was to formally introduce the group to the Ambassador, as well as to invite him to the grand launch of the club which is scheduled for the 5th of October, 2019 at the Wembley Sports Complex at Kotobabi in Accra.
The group has since set its sight on consulting some eminent members of the Bissa fraternity and adjoining tribes, to foster unity and raise awareness of their activities.
Receiving the BFC (GH) delegation, Mr. Zagre advised leadership of the group to exhibit patience in its operations, especially when faced with challenges.
He added: “Bissa people worldwide are known for their hard work and honesty, and I pray that young people like you will stay true to the values held high by the older generation.”
The Ambassador, who promised to honour the group’s invitation to the launch, also assured of his continuous support to ensure the success of the upcoming and subsequent programmes by the club.
President of Bissa Fitness Club, Hussein Hassan Yorda, who led the delegation expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his warm reception, saying: “My team and I appreciate you taking time off your busy schedule to welcome us, we will not disappoint you.”
“Although Bissa people spread across five West African Countries; Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast, Benin, it is factually known that the ancestral home of all Bissas is Burkina Faso. It is for this reason that we thought, we cannot hold such an event without consulting the highest body representing Burkina Faso in Ghana, and only thought it wise to be here,” he added.
On his part, Alhaji Issaka Osman Nombre, a member of the planning committee for the launch said: “We know the future is youth and so, we are giving these young men all the support that we can to ensure that when our leaders phase out, there will not be vacuum in terms of leaders who will take up the mantle and keep up the development of Bissa and Ghana at large.”
The BFC (GH) Launch Planning Committee will in the next few weeks schedule meetings with Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah and some prominent members of the Bissa family, including Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Dr. Mustapha Hamid and former Deputy Foreign Minister Emmanuel Bombande.
The club has also outlined outreach programmes to embark on, as part of activities towards the launch.
