The World Bank Country Director Henry Kerali has presented a Macbook Air laptop to Richard Annerquaye Abbey as part of the prize package for being adjudged overall Journalist of the Year at the recent Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) Awards.
In addition to the laptop, the World Bank is sponsoring Mr. Abbey’s participation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington DC, United States in April.
Mr. Kerali congratulated the B&FT’s Online Editor for emerging overall winner in the prestigious IFEJ Awards, adding that the he is confident that the recognition will go a long way to provide a springboard for other greater things in his career.
On his part, Mr. Abbey thanked the World Bank for its support and expressed confidence prize package will spur him on to achieve more.
In addition to being crowned the overall Journalist of the Year, Mr. Abbey also won the Best in Tourism and Best in Natural Resources reporting.
The presentation ceremony was attended by Rayborn Bulley, IFEJ President; Lloyd Evans, Chairman of the Awards Planning Committee; Naa Torshie Torto, IFEJ Project Manager; and Kennedy Fosu, a Communications Officer at the World Bank.
