The Turkey Ambassador to Ghana, Dr. Ozlem Ergun Ulureen, has paid a familiarisation visit to the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
The visit, Dr. Ulureen said, is to strengthen the ties her country has with Ghana and to promote the rich culture both countries have.
“I am very honoured by being received by Your Royal Majesty today in Kumasi. I am also sincerely humbled to be in this beautiful city which blends tradition very well with modernity.
“Thanks to its glorious history, invaluable cultural heritage, unique traditional values as well as outstanding potential, this town and this region has rightly gained a particular importance for Ghana.
“As an Ambassador of Turkey who has recently assumed duties, I would like to express that during my tenure I will not spare any effort to strengthen the already-existing friendly ties between Turkey and Ghana, and to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all possible areas. I sincerely believe that Ashanti Region has the potential to carry this cooperation forward,” she said.
She further highlighted the role Turkish entrepreneurs have played in the economy, reiterating their commitment to doing business in the country.
“Turkish entrepreneurs have already proved their ability to contribute to the development efforts of the country. Turkey will continue to be a development partner for Ghana.
“Despite the long distance between the two countries, increasing people to people contacts, candid interest to know more about each other’s culture and values, as well as ongoing cooperation in various fields will perpetuate friendship between Turkey and Ghana,” she said.
