The third edition of the Chamber Business Awards 2018, organised by Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), has been launched as part of efforts to celebrate business excellence.
Themed ‘Digitising the Ghanaian Economy for Competitive Edge in Globalisation’, the awards seek to reward companies and individuals for their performance in 2018.
Nominations for the awards commenced on Tuesday May 22, 2019 and will close on June 21 this year, with the awards ceremony slated for November 23, 2019.
According to the organiser, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be the special guest of honour during the awards proper in November.
Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso I, GNCCI’s President, said the third edition of the awards will celebrate the best and finest of businesses that have demonstrated excellence in business leadership and invested in smart management systems, business automation and design as well as product development in contributing to socio-economic development.
“As the private sector is being encouraged to leverage on technology and digitisation of systems to improve administrative operations and governance, there is a need to recognise and celebrate businesses who are using innovative ways to be efficient and competitive,” Nana Dankawaso added.
On his part, Acting Chief Director at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Patrick Nimo – who represented the sector minister at the launch, explained that government places high premium on digitisation, and that efforts are being made to quicken digitisation and transformation of the country’s economy.
