The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison has commended Stanbic Bank for its commitment to practice professionalism and adhering to the industry’s best practices since its existence of operations.
He made this statement at the 20th Anniversary Celebrations of the Bank held in Accra.
According to Dr. Addison, the expectation of the Bank of Ghana was that the Standard Group and Stanbic Bank will work creditably to impact lives across Africa.
He said: “Stanbic Bank has about 40 branches spread across the country; over 100 ATMs and ranked among the top five banks in Ghana. These are commendable achievements over the last two decades and are really impressive.”
He encouraged the Bank to continue to maintain its standards and hold in high esteem the best practices of the banking industry.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank, Mr. Alhassan Andani revealed that Stanbic Bank Ghana is set to use technology to bring financial services closer to its customers.
He noted that this is part of the bank’s digital banking strategy to leverage on new and evolving technologies to facilitate access to everyday financial services for consumers.
Mr. Andani said: “In the next five to ten years, Stanbic will be a highly digitally driven financial services organization. We give you a one-stop shop for a total customer fulfillment. The 20 years journey of Stanbic Bank Ghana has truly been the story of the patience of our shareholders, the loyalty of our customers and the hard work of our staff”.
He expressed gratitude to the founders of the Standard Bank Group and its shareholders for staying with the Bank through its various stages of growth.
He disclosed that out of the 157 years of its existence, the Standard Bank Group had only one instance where the Board recommended no dividends payment.
Touching on future engagements, Mr. Andani said “We look forward to put up a Specialist Leukemia Centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives”.
About Stanbic Bank
Stanbic Bank, is a subsidiary of the Standard Bank Group, and was incorporated in Ghana in 1999.
The incorporation followed the acquisition of majority shares in Union Mortgage Bank Limited by the Standard Bank Group. Its total assets as at end of 2018 was GH¢6.21 billion.
