The ASA Savings and Loans Limited has awarded GH₵10,000.00 towards the education of 20 brilliant but needy children in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region, as part of its educational support programme.
The donation to the beneficiaries, which also include a senior high school student, forms part of ASA’s scholarship scheme and educational support programme under its corporate social responsibility activities undertaken in its operational areas.
The support is expected to lessen the burden of parents or guardians in catering for the fees, educational materials among others of the beneficiary children.
According to the Divisional Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, Mr. Felix Ahiadorme, the gesture is to motivate other school children to put in more effort to improve their performance while encouraging parents not to relent on the education of their children.
He noted that education is one of the priority areas of support besides health by ASA Savings and Loans.
He said, for instance, that a number of items and other support have been offered to schools and other educational institutions, across the country over the years. Some of the items include sets of dual desks for students and teacher’s desk, dustbins and water dispenser among others.
These items, he said are meant to help improve the educational performance as well as contribute to the quality of education within the Region.
Mr. Ahiadorme, explained that the company in its quest to give back to society periodically identifies deprived or needy communities and educational institutions and support them according to their needs.
Some of the parents of the beneficiary children expressed the gratitude amidst the excitement over the gesture. While entreating people to embrace the operations of ASA Savings and Loans they also said the support will go a long way to help them in catering for their children.
The Area Manager for Bekwai Area, Eugene Owusu, also encouraged especially women in the area to join the Kunka Newtown Business Center of ASA Savings and Loans to also benefit from the services of the company.
