President Akufo Addo has ordered for the arrest of Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, under the charge of ‘defrauding by false pretense’.
It is unclear the exact circumstances that led to the order but it is believed the President took the decision after a security briefing today, following news of investigative journalist, Anas’ latest expose on corruption in Ghana football.
However, the GFA Boss is out of the country and is expected to be arrested by security authorities immediately he enters the country.
This isn’t the first time the GFA boss has been fingered in allegations of corruption. There were allegations of match-fixing by UK Tabloid, the Daily Telegraph, in 2014 and several unsubstantiated claims of corruption by sports journalist, Countryman Songo.
There has been no official communication from the GFA on the matter.
