The legislature has unanimously paid an impassioned tribute to the late Vice President of Ghana, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.
According to the Speaker, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, his death is “great loss to the party and the nation and came as a shock to the nation”.
He recalled his days at the University of Ghana where he met him, through to his time as a former Bank of Ghana governor.
The Speaker of Parliament also indicated that he knew Mr. Amissah-Arthur as an intelligent and a good person.
Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu also maintained that it was a big loss to the nation and was deeply saddened by his demise.
He also stated that the late Vice President was a jovial man
Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka was equally shocked at the loss of a giant in their party and
Later in the day, the leadership of Parliament led by the Speaker visited the residence of the late Vice President at Ridge in Accra.
The former Vice President passed on in the morning of Friday 29th June, 2018 after an alleged morning work out.
He was the sixth Vice-President of Ghana, in office from 6th August, 2012 till 7th January, 2017, under former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
