Anthony Jordan, Managing Director of Republic Bank

This year’s Republic Bank/GES Youth Athletics Festival commences today, August 17, 2018 at the Koforidua Senior High Technical School Park, in the Eastern Region.

The two day event marks the third and final year of the bank’s three year sponsorship arrangement with the Ghana Education Services’ (GES) annual pre-tertiary athletic sport event dubbed RepublicBank/ GESNationalAthleticsChampionship.

The event will bring together over 1000 basic school athletes from all ten regions of Ghana.

Executives of Republic Bank led by the General Manager for Finance and Strategy, Benjamin Dzoboku are expected to grace the occasion.

In 2016, Republic Bank then HFC Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ghana Education Service to sponsor Youth Athletics in Ghana. The Bank has so far spent over GH¢350,000 in sponsorships to the National Youth Athletics Festival.

The first national festival was held in Sunyani and the second was hosted by Cape Coast. The Cape Coast edition had the highest number of new records set in the 32nd year of the youth athletics festival.

Republic Bank believes that corporate social responsibility must result in the long term benefits for communities. It is therefore the aim of the Bank to nurture athletes that are capable of competing and winning Gold medals for Ghana in future.
