North Dayi MP donates to constituents

The festive season could not have come at an opportune time for three institutions or groups in the North Dayi constituency in the Volta region, following the Member of Parliament, Joycelyn Tetteh’s continuous benevolence to them.

On christmas day, Hon.Tetteh made her first stop at Vakpo Afeye Police station where she presented a hamper, a bag of rice, cooking oil and other items to the district commander Kodzo Avornyo.

From there, she proceeded to the Anfoaga Police district, where she inspected a newly built police post and a prison cell.

She resolved to help tackle the challenges facing the police command including lack of vehicle and other logistical challenges.

On his part, the district commander, Kodzo Avornyo, was beside himself with joy over the MP’s gesture.

He stated “We feel so much needed and respected, we also have to live up to expectation, it is going to boost our morale”.

According to him, they lack vehicles and the locals shying away from volunteering or approaching the police with information.

“We need information to work, but our culture does not allow us to be open with strangers especially the police”.

The Anfoega Catholic Hospital was her next stop, where Ms.Tetteh presented drinks, assorted items and an undisclosed amount of money to the children’s unit of the hospital.

Later that very day, she also feted motor riders popularly known as ‘okada’ riders at her residency where she presented a set of jerseys, football and reflectors to the various okada groups that thronged her place.

On what inspired her to carry out these donations, she explained “It is something that I always do, this is not the first time, normally l go to the vulnerable in society.

I believe in the fact that we are all not the same and we are all not privileged to have these basic things in life, so I always make sure that from the beginning of the year, I make provisions towards that, December comes and I am supposed to be sharing love, not only wishing them [merry christmas] but in a little way that I can touch their lives”.

She also hinted that further donations are also underway on 27th December, to the District Health Directorate, disabled society among others.

The North Dayi MP also stated that she is using “the little that government” is giving her to solve these challenges in her constituency and appealed to other corporate bodies to join forces and help MPs develop their respective communities.
