Music 4 Youth Ghana (M4YG) prepares for its next event themed: “A Touch of Class”, creating a magical evening of arias for classical music lovers.
The Co-Founder of M4YG, Veronica Bain-Derby stated: “This event has been on the books with me for a long time, but it will be even better now that it has been tied to a supporting cause that means something special to me.”
Mrs. Bain is a professional singer and consultant who with the support of M4YG Co-Founder Kweku Aacht, wanted to create a way to give back their talents to the young people of Ghana. After multiple discussions with various musicians based in Ghana, including expatriates, the duo decided on two organizations dear to their hearts.
Mrs. Bain-Derby, is an American, based in Ghana, has spent the last several years volunteering with the non-for-profit organization Nneka Youth Foundation in the Volta Region. “Recently, the Founder of Nneka Mrs. Cecilia Fiaka decided to take her youth empowering camps and mentoring programs to another level. She is giving teen mothers a second chance at life. How can I not support such an initiative?” Mrs. Bain –Derby stated.
The second initiative supported by M4YG is Music Therapy Association of Ghana, the only of its kind in West Africa, Mrs. Mawuyrami Ocloo founded the organization with the idea and passion of using music as a therapeutic tool which can assist individuals with disabilities.
This classical event will include well known musicians throughout Ghana and abroad, including Sandra Huson (Ghana), legendary jazz singer Brenda Joyce (USA), Desire Siehou (Ivory Coast), Becca Brink (USA), Antoinette L.C. Nwosu also known as Chi Chi (Nigeria), among others.
The event will take place on September 29, 2018, at Antique Lemonade behind Cuppa Cappicino in Accra.
