MTN Ghana has presented a cheque for GH¢2,000 recharge cards valued at GH¢500, MTN-branded T-shirts and other souvenirs toward the Kundum Festival at Lower Dixcove in the Ahanta West district of the Western Region.
Mr. Simon Amoh, Regional Senior Manager of MTN South West, during the presentation explained “this is part of our corporate social reasonability”.
“MTN as an African company believes in culture, and it based on this that we have come here to project our culture to the entire world,” he said.
He explained that chiefs are key stakeholders within the eco-system, and festivals are important parts of our life in Ghana. “If the chiefs put a request before us, we should be able to respond positively”.
It is part of our core responsibility to give back to the society what we get from them; last year we supported the celebration, and this year we have come again,” he added.
Nana Kwasi Agyemang VIIII, Chief of Lower Dixcove, expressed appreciation to MTN for its continuous support toward the Kundum Festival
“Currently, MTN has been able to improve the network in Dixcove and other surrounding communities since the cell-site was stationed in the area; now, we can make and receive phone calls without any worry,” he said.
This, according to him, has led to the springing-up of MTN mobile money merchants in the area, and has increased the number of subscribers in Dixcove.
“Ahantaman and surrounding communities are happy about the good services offered them; I urge all to come and support in the celebration of this year Kundum Festival,” he added.
