MTN Ghana has presented a cheque for GHc10, 000, MTN souvenir and a hamper to support the Nsein Kundum festival in the Nzema East District of the Western Region.
The festival is on the theme “harnessing the talent of the youth for sustainable participation in planting for food and jobs programme-the role of traditional ruler”.
Mrs. Anna Ekua Yalley, Acting Regional Senior Manager for South West Business District of MTN explained that traditional rulers are important development partners in the country.
“Since you are the custodians of the community, you help in the transmission of knowledge, norms and values of a given people, therefore you serve as a good medium to change negative mind-sets about wealth and job creation” he said.
She explained that MTN support festivals in the country such as Bakatue, Kundum at Lower Dixcove,Oguaa Fetu Afahye, Borbor Festival, Aboakyir among others.
“During this time, it also serves as home coming where both indigenes and visitors come to witness the rich culture, settle problems within family, new marriages among other” she added.
She expressed hope that the relationship between the people of Nsein and MTN will continue to deepen further for mutual development agenda.
“We wish you a memorable festivity as you celebrate the victories of our ancestors and inculcate similar values in the present and future generation” she added.
Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, Chief of Nsein Traditional Area expressed gratitude to MTN for the gesture; this the first time we a receiving this from MTN.
This year’s festival is going to be a special one since MTN has come on board, I will appeal to other organizations in the region to also support Nsein Kundum festival.
