Kennedy Agyapong cited for contempt allegations …as he is referred to Priviledges Committee

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has been summoned to appear before Parliament’s Priviledges Committee following unsavoury comments made against the leadership of Parliament.

Mr. Agyapong in a  television programme on Net 2 TV alleged that Parliament was useless and if they were not, they will not have the likes of Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as its leader.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu who announced the ruling said the comments of Mr. Agyapong if indeed true offends Order 28 and 30 (2) of the Standing Orders of Parliament, orders which is a replication of Article 122 of the constitution.

Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak the lodged a complaint to the House raising concerns about how how Kennedy Agyapong referred to the House as Cheap and Useless.

“I find this to be very offensive, unbecoming of a Member of Parliament and for the past weeks, he has been on rampaging insults” Muntaka said on the floor.

At a sitting, on Wednesday, Members of Parliament found the comments of the Chairman of the Communications Committee very offensive.
