AIRDC/AISADC Educational Conference Expects More Participants

About 500 participants have indicated interest in attending the 21st Biennial Educational Conference organized by the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC) and Association of Insurance Supervisory Authority for Developing Countries (AISADC) holding in Nepal from 24th to 27th September, 2018.

This years’ conference is scheduled to take place at the Hotel Soaltee Crown Palaza, in Katmandu Nepal. The theme of the conference, “Building Financial Resilience – Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance.”

It will provide a lively platform enabling insurance executives around the globe to share their view and combine their knowledge in expertise to drive local industry growth and development.

Mr. Augusto Hidalgo, President and CEO, National Reinsurance Corporation of Philippines will be a key speaker and he will dwell on the topic “The Role of a National Reinsurer in Disaster Risk Financing.”

The speaker, Augusto Hidalgo has been a Strategy Executive, heading Mergers and Acquisitions of Pick Reinsurance Hong Kong and serving as Managing Partner of New World Financial Canada.

He gained his experience in reinsurance underwriting in Swiss Re in Canada, Australia, Switzerland and South Africa from 1996 to 2005. He is also a Co-Chair of the Board of the Principles of Sustainable Insurance of the United Nation Environment.

He earned his Master’s Degrees in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the School of Schulich School of Business at York University.

According to the coordinator from the National Insurance Commissions (NIC) participants from Ghana would be issued visas on arrival. The organizer will therefore facilitate this process as well as prepare visa letters for participants to enable them attend the conference.

Persons interested in attending should therefore pay the conference fee and send all relevant information to the organizer latest by August 25th, 2018 to enable them have ample time to work on the visa.

NIC also indicated that official Hotels have been listed at the conference website at www.airdc2018 for single occupancy per day. Participants are encouraged therefore to book their hotels since September is the peak season for tourist in Katmandu.
