The Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, has revealed that an estimated $50 million has been approved for the second phase of the University of Ghana Medical Centre.
The sector minister said this in Parliament last Wednesday, when he was answering a question posed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu, Mr. Kwame Goveens Agbodza, requesting when the completed phase of the new hospital would be fully operationalised.
Mr. Agyeman-Manu stated that the Ministry of Health would lay the request for the amount in Parliament next week for approval.
He said part of the $50 million would be used for the procurement of drugs and other consumables, as well as secure a reliable power supply for the hospital, which together, will guarantee the operationalisation of the facility by the end of July 2018.
“By next week, it will be laid before the House for approval and we will have money for critical items whose completion will actually trigger the operationalisation of the hospital,” the minister said.
