Odotobri Rural Bank Limited at Jacobu in the Amansie Central district of Ashanti Region has donated farm inputs and other items valued at GH¢18,000 to fourteen institutions within its operational territories in the Ashanti Region.
The institutions include twelve metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Kumasi Metro.
The donation forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility and was in support of the 34th National Farmers’ Day celebrations observed last Friday.
The items donated include 28 ‘Pulmick’ brand knapsack sprayers; 42 ‘Power’ brand knapsack sprayers; 14 boxes of Wellington boots; and 3 boxes of ‘Crocodile’ brand cutlasses.
The beneficiary districts and institutions are: the Adansi North, Atwima Kwanwoma, Afigya Kwabre, Kwabre East, Amansie Central, Old Tafo Municipal, and Suame Municipal Assemblies.
The rest are Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (Ministry of Food and Agriculture), Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, Bekawi Municipal Assembly, Oforikrom Municipal Assembly and Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, as well as the Regional Agric. Development Unit of the Ministry of Food & Agriculture – all in Ashanti Region.
The bank’s CEO, Mr. Siaka Baba Ahmed, told newsmen that it is very sensitive to development particularly within its catchment areas. By this, the Board after perusing letters of request made by these districts approved GH¢18,000 of the bank’s social responsibility budget to support National Farmers’ Day.
According to him, the bank gives the supports out of profits it makes every year, and so the districts should consider taking a keen interest in its activities and do business so that it can make more profit to sustain these supports.
The CEO made the presentation on behalf of the bank and Board of Directors, and congratulated all farmers who have won awards this year – advising them to continue the hard work.
