GCB Bank Ltd. has provided GH¢73,600 to enable 23 medical students across the country embark on their 2018 medical exchange programme.
The students will travel to Germany, Hong Kong, USA, Spain and Israel among other countries, to study and acquaint themselves with best practices in medical education.
Three of the students will have opportunity to study at Ivy League universities in the USA: namely Brown, Yale and Cornell respectively.
The sponsorship forms part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility which supports the programme annually for the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association.
The support exposes medical students to the practice of health care delivery in other countries.
Compliance and best industry practices worldwide require business entities to invest in CSR activities that help bridge the gap between economic and social capital which is a key measure by which a business’s performance is judged and it is positioned as a good corporate citizen.
The support is expected to enhance the expertise of young doctors who will return to serve the nation with knowledge and experience they have acquired.
Last year, GCB sponsored 20 medical students on the same programme.
