In the quest to see an improvement in quality of education offered within its catchment areas, the Adansi Rural Bank Limited in the Adansi North district of the Ashanti Region, has begun organising a number of quiz competitions for schools as part of its social responsibility activities.
The quiz competition, which targets about 93 junior high schools in the Adansi North district, is hoped to make schools within the district competitive and consequently enhance teaching and learning activities.
The bank believes that this will help raise the academic standard of the students, and has therefore instituted a scholarship scheme to cater for all six students who make it to the finals of the competition.
The scholarship package covers educational expenses of the finalists to the tertiary level. Other contestants who are unable to make it to the final stage will be given some prizes and souvenirs.
“This has also become a major drive to motivate students to learn for the competition and teachers to go the extra mile in seeing their students enjoy such a package.”
Additionally, the bank has also been embarking on several corporate social responsibility programmes which as well seek to improve living standards of people within its operational communities.
It is hoped that the quiz competition will be extended to other districts in the region where the bank operates in due time.
Meanwhile, the maiden edition of the Math, English and Science quiz competition that was held in 2017 was won by A. T. T. C Practice JHS, Qualitek Montessori JHS and New Akrofuom D/A JHS. The 2018 edition was however won by Adiembra D/A JHS, Asokwa D/A JHS and Fumso D/A JHS.
The bank believes education is the only tool that can be used to bridge the gap between the rich and poor – hence, undertaking this initiative.
