PBC Limited, a licenced cocoa buying company, has reiterated its commitment to promoting the welfare of farmers in the country, through the provision of health intervention programmes.
One of such interventions is its free health screening outreach programme, which is set to come off in the Ashanti Region on Thursday October 4, 2018. The exercise forms part of PBC’s corporate social responsibility and is targeted at cocoa and mixed crop farmers in major farming communities in the country.
“We are thrilled to have been able to extend this CSR gesture to our esteemed farmers in the Ashanti Region, specifically Bekwai. Indeed, Bekwai and its adjoining towns are noted for their immense contribution to cocoa production in this country that is why we deemed it fit to extend this support to our esteemed farmers here.
“Going forward, we are confident that other key cocoa producing areas in this region will also benefit from the project,” said Deputy Chief Executive of Operations for PBC, Alfred Ofori Annye.
Thursday’s exercise in the Bekwai District Assembly, will be the second phase of the nationwide health outreach. The first took place in the Brong Ahafo Region last month.
The exercise is co-sponsored by PBC ltd, Chemico ltd. New okaff industries and Rainbow Agrosciences. The initiative forms part of the corporate social responsibility of the three companies and is primarily organized as part of the collaborators commitments to promoting farmer welfare across the country to improve productivity.
