Speed Medical Centre, Chalé Foundation provide free health screening for Aboom Special School

Speed Medical Centre (SMC) joined Chalé Foundation to provide holistic health care examination and screening for beneficiaries of the Aboom Special School in Cape Coast. The event, which took place on Saturday, the 7th of October, 2017 at the school’s premises had over two hundred [200] individuals screened. These included the special needs children, their parents and teachers.

Speed Medical Centre further supported Chalé Foundation’s Aboom Project with drugs and other much needed Medical supplies from the Speed Pharmacy. These include Glucometers, Thermometers, Weighing scales, Tape measures, Nose Masks, Tongue depressors, a First Aid box, Examination gloves, Gentian violet, Antibacterial eye and ear drops, Cotton wool, hand sanitisers, Methylated spirit just to mention a few.

The headmistress of the school, Madam Mary Osei expressed her deepest appreciation to the staff of Speed Medical Centre present for their support for the special children in Cape Coast. She expressed her gratitude to the team for the health screening, training and socialisation with the disadvantaged children. She said people must understand that special needs children are humans who just need special care and attention.

The Aboom Special School which was established at the beginning of the 2006/2007 academic year by the German Technical Corporation (GIZ) was handed over to the Ghana Education Service [GES] in 2008.

Speed Medical centre continues to push the boundaries when it comes to providing access to healthcare and social interventions by healthcare facilities. This model if adopted by other facilities will go a long way to bridge the unmet need for healthcare services in Ghana.
