CIMG urges inducted members to adopt digitalization as absolute necessity

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), has urged its newly inducted members to adapt the right mindset, digitalization and the use of technology and customization, as the three absolute necessities required for success in the profession.

According to the President of CIMG, Dr. D. Kasser Tee, irrespective of the brand they go out there to build or promote, be it personality, corporate, or national, as marketers the right mindset and attitude and self-disciple is paramount.

“In today’s world you cannot do anything outside technology so what we are saying is that have the right mindset, employ digitalization and technology in all operations and also look at customization of whatever you do to meet individual and group needs,” he said.

He added that as marketers, they owe it as an obligation to support the wonderful Ghana Beyond Aid agenda of government, and to achieve that the right mindset and commitment to change the taste and preference for foreign products to made in Ghana goods cannot be overlooked.

He made these remarks at the Institute’s 2021 induction ceremony. This is the first time the Institute, in its 40 years of existence, had admitted two different cohorts (2020 and 2021) together at the same ceremony, and this is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 102 new inductees included 27 full members, 60 associate members, 13 emerging associate members, one graduate and honorary member each. Concurrently, two corporate members were also inducted into the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana.

The CIMG recently welcomed the passage of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1021). This landmark initiative was followed closely with the launch of the CIMG Professional Marketing Qualifications, with first local examination slated for September 2021.

Dr. Kasser Tee indicated that the institute had subsequently granted accreditation status to seven universities and tuition centres, who were working hard to start the provision of tuition in June/July to enable them to engage students for a minimum of three months before they took the exams. He urged all inductees who were presently not professionally qualified, to take advantage of the opportunity to enroll for the exams to upgrade their knowledge and status.

He implored those inductees also who were professionally qualified to take steps at starting their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme now, which would lead them to attain the Chartered Marketers status, taking them to the peak of their profession.
