RCBs in Western and Western North regions donate to Effia Nkwanta Hospital

The Western and Western North Regions Association of Rural and Community Banks have presented items, worth GH¢10, 000 to the Effia- Nkwanta Regional Hospital at Sekondi. The items include 40 packets of disposable gloves,40 gallons of chlorine solution, 40 gallon of liquid soap as well as 480 rolls of hand tissue

Presenting the items, Dr. Toni Aubynn, President of the Association noted that “the advent of COVID-19 has put a lot of strain on the resources of our health institutions; putting administrators under severe pressure to provide the needed resources. Rural and community banks with their unique ownership, cannot sit aloof whiles the institutions that cater for the health needs of customers struggle for resources, hence the need to support,” he added.

He mentioned that “this is in additions to donation made by the member banks to the health institutions in their operational areas, brings the total cost of support provided by the RCB’s in the Western Chapter to close to GH¢200,000.”

He expressed hope that the cordial relationship between the RCBs and the Ghana Health Service will grow from strength to strength.

Kwodwo Okyere Apenteng, Head of Pharmacy at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital pointed out that COVID-19, has really put pressure on the facility.

He explained that under the protocols to observe on COVID-19, washing of hands is very important and that tissue used in wiping the hands get finished on time. “This is the biggest hand tissue the hospital has received so far in terms of quantity; we are very grateful and we hope other institutions will also come to our aid,” he added.
