Homestyle, a Dansoman based club, has donated COVID-19 relief items worth Gh¢50,000 to the Dansoman Polyclinic and the Dansoman Police Command to help mitigate the spread of the disease.

The donation comes as part of the club’s 27th anniversary celebrations.

In a mini-social-distancing event held at Dansoman in Accra, members of the club presented the items which included bottled water, gallons of hand sanitizers, gallons of liquid soaps, nose masks, hands gloves, thermometers, tissues etc. to representatives of both instructions.

According to Ursula Owusu Ekuful, Member of Parliament for the area and an Associate Member of Homestyle Club who made the presentation, said that the donation is very relevant in this period of the fight of the Coronavirus pandemic.

She stated that “all the items donated are very helpful to the fight of the pandemic especially to the Polyclinic, since it is the only public health centre that takes care of patients from Dansoman all the way to Weija”.

She used the opportunity to commend the Polyclinic for responding rapidly to the call of patients and their involvement in District COVID-19 taskforce set up to help mitigate the spread of the disease in the area.

She further noted that individuals and corporate organisations must all help fight the virus in their little spaces of operation since government alone cannot satisfying every community with PPE and basic items in the fight of the pandemic.

In a speech, the first chairman of the club, Kwame Appiah Danquah recounted the club’s involvement in helping the Dansoman community anytime the need arose.

He said “our club has in the past embarked on similar programmes as part of our Social Responsibility in contributing to the May 9th Stadium Disaster Fund, Cured Lepers at Weija, the Osu Childrens’ Home and also to the National Cardio-Thoracic Centre, Korle-Bu”.

The Dansoman Police Commander, ASP Isaac Asante, commended Homestyle Club for its kind gesture and also used the occasion to encourage the public to continue observing the various health protocols issued by government and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

He recounted various donation done to them in the past by the club and how it has effectively helped them to country out duties due them.

Whilst many organisations have contributed to the National COVID-19 fund, Homestyle Club decided to start from home, the community in which the club thrives.
