The Paramount Chief of Nungua Traditional Area who is also the president of Nungua Traditional Area and the vice president of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has been honoured with a Peace Ambassadorial Plaque as part of his enormous efforts in preaching peace to the entire nation both far and near.

His works and contribution towards peace not just in his community or the region but across the length and breadth of the country was not only done in vain but rather was being monitored all these whiles, hence the need for the award in due time by Universal Peace Federation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Secretary General of Universal Peace Federation, Mrs. Helen Osei stated that the plaque awarded to Professor King Odaifio Welentsi III, is one that is well deserving and not just a mere one.

Mrs. Osei said she is very optimistic that the Ambassadorial honour will not put a halt to the numerous opportunities created through his leadership but will continue to add up and preach peace to all.

She added that: “As we open up relationship with you, that means we will be able to have a view of what is taking place around the world. So, I want to therefore present the letter to you. Whatever we do is very important too.” She said these during the presentation of the Peace Ambassadorial Plaque at the palace of the King Odaifio Welentsi III.

Professor King Odaifio Welentsi III sharing his thoughts on measures taken to address peaceful co-existence among individuals said religion, though many have disputed the fact that religion can never be the yard stick for ensuring peace among individuals, he argued that it is not but the followers rather.

He said all the major religions admonishes followers to live in peace with one another yet the followers do otherwise, thereby creating chaos all over.

King Odaifio Welentsi added that “We see peace as an event, you only hear about peace when it is elections. We are always afraid there would be war and everyone is afraid to die, yet we tell the dead to rest in peace”.

He advised that cascading the message of peace should be done on a daily basis and not when events that are likely to spit chaos draw nearer, stating that it is a process.

He expressed his gratitude to Universal Peace Federation for the award and congratulated other awardees and urged them live up to the task.
