Sunon Asogli Power, AWA to explore opportunities in Cameroon

President of the National House of Chiefs and Co-founder of Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited, Togbe Afede XIV, has led a four-member delegation from Sunon Asogli Power and African World Airlines (AWA) to explore opportunities in the power sector of Cameroon.

The Sunon Asogli power plant was the first privately-owned electricity generation installation in the history of Ghana, generating up to 25 percent of Ghana’s safe and reliable energy and the company is aiming to expand its operations beyond the borders of the country.

Togbe Afede, who is also the founder of SAS Finance Group and Africa World Airlines (AWA), ensured that the team also explored the prospects for African World Airline to ply the Accra-Yaounde-Accra, via Douala.

Sunon Asogli’s Manager of Energy Trading, Research and Regulatory Affairs, Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, in a statement indicated that during the visit, the team met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cameroon, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, who welcomed them with gladness and expressed his country’s readiness to open its business doors to them.

“The Prime Minister, on behalf of the President and the people of Cameroon, warmly welcomed Togbe Afede and the team, and expressed the hope that Sunon Asogli Power and Africa World Airlines would invest in Cameroon,” he stated.

He added that the team also met with the Minister of Water Resources and Energy of Cameroon, Eloundou Essomba Gaston, the Director of Electricity at the Ministry, and top executives of the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency.

The statement further narrated that the Prime Minister, who is also a traditional leader, expressed excitement about Togbe Afede’s plans to promote collaboration among African traditional leaders and stressed the importance of Africa-to-Africa collaboration in moving the continent forward.
