Christopher Opoku passes on

Ace sports writer Christopher Opoku has died in the United Kingdom where he was receiving treatment for cancer.

His death came as a shock to many in the sporting fraternity and Ghanaians in general.

Though an official word from his family is yet to come out, it is mostly likely to happen in the coming days.

As a journalist, Opoku was a weekly columnist for the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) newspaper and also worked with Citi FM, Metro TV, Multimedia Group and also hosted sports shows on GTV.

He has covered a host of major international tournaments, including the African Youth Championships hosted (and won) by Ghana in 1999, the Nations Cup organized a year later, and that of 2008.
