Jollof Market to hit Accra on August 26

It's the month of August and Africa’s first ever Jollof Market, an open-air food fair set to display an array of jollof rice by local Ghanaian caterers, is set to hit Accra, Ghana.

According to the event organizers, The Food Events Company and Think Mahogany, the objective of Jollof Market is to promote Ghanaian cuisine, specifically Jollof with its accompaniments, to give vendors the platform to exhibit, to create a networking platform amongst the vendors and attendees "and on a  lighter note, to end the Jollof war between Ghana and Nigeria".

The event which is slated for the 26th of August at Serallio in Osu will feature a
Beer Village: A well set up beer village where Ghana’s authentic beer will be served, Branded Stage: A stage for live acts, Live Band and Local Drum Band, Local Snack Stand, Cooking Demos: A live Jollof cooking demonstration and competition and Spicy Grills.

Activities include Live Jollof Cooking Competition, Music Entertainment, Karaoke Session, Spoken Word/Open Mic Session, Live Musical Performance and Celebrity Appearances.

Speaking on challenges, team member Norbert Kobina Dadson explained that sponsors coming on board to support has been their major challenge. "Challenges we are facing is sponsorship. Most of the sponsors we approached turned us down however, we do not foresee any challenges ahead Saturday. Our team is very committed to making this a success".
