John McLean comes to +233 Jazz Bar & Grill this Saturday

The UK based Jamaican reggae artist, John Mclean, will on Saturday, 19th August, set to perform at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra, with support from Knii Lante and the Big Hills Band.

John McLean, the man with a string of hits in the 80s including 'If I Give My Heart to You', 'Truly Bowled Over', 'Say You' and many others can’t wait to perform at the highly patronised Jazz bar.

McLean, aside the numerous hit singles, has three albums to his name, with a fourth album coming out later this year. He has worked alongside some of the industry's premier reggae icons and musicians including Sly and Robbie, Dean Fraser, Ken Booth, Dennis Brown, Maxi Priest, Sanchez and very recently performed on the Freddie McGregor UK tour.

McLean’s contribution to the UK reggae industry could not go unnoticed as he has been rewarded with multiple music awards including ‘Best Male Singer’, ‘Best album’ for Bowled Over and ‘Best Record’ for If I gave my heart to you.

McLean who greatly looks forward to his forthcoming show in Ghana at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill has also performed on all four continents in countries including America, Jamaica, Japan and Gambia and has toured Europe several times.

An extract from an article listing the UK reggae No.1 charted songs of 1987 quotes:

‘If I Gave My Heart To You’ | John McLean | Ariwa 10 wks

This lovers’ rock classic was sat atop the reggae chart during the week of the festive season – and stayed for an amazing ten weeks right through to mid-February in 1988. Written by John himself and produced by Captain Sinbad at Ariwa Studios, it was the first of many hit tunes John made for Ariwa – later hits included Truly Bowled Over, Say You, Time For Love and Runaround Girl. However, this almighty tune is certainly his most fondly remembered and will forever be one of the shining moments in the lovers rock canon."
