Santa 2G2 practises ahead of Football gala
The 2002-year group of Adisadel College old boys took themselves through the paces in a football practice match last Saturday, ahead of an official game between selected year groups dubbed “Football gala”.
According to organisers of the game, the intention was to raise a team for the year group to represent the 2002 batch and also keep them in shape for the upcoming competition.
On the day, two sets of teams were pitched against each other, with organisers christening it the Upper School and the Lower School. The Lower School triumphed over their Upper School counterparts on the day beating them by 5 goals to 3.
One of the organisers of the practice game amongst the 2002-year group, Bernard Asante expressed his excitement about the game. “I was thrilled to take part in today’s game; I am really looking forward to the Football gala. I didn’t know I still have some skills in me,” he said.
Another colleague who also played the game also said: “It’s great to meet your mates after a long while, and I think practice game like this brings us together and also consolidates the group. I am also confident we will put up a good showing when the football gala comes around,” George Owusu Manu, an old boy also remarked.
The maiden football gala comes off on July 1, 2017 at the Ajax Park on the University of Ghana campus, with eight participating year groups.
Similarly, the rationale behind it, organisers say is to touch base with old boys, reunite and network and also team up to draw up plans for the school.
