Uncle Ebo Whyte unveils ‘The Perfect Couple’
Uncle Ebo Whyte has launched the second of seven series of his debut novel sequel to "The Deal" titled "The Perfect Couple". The novel basically urges men to embrace their mistakes instead of holding the devil for any misfortunes that come their way.
According to the ace playwright: “of course, there is a devil and of course he can do terrible things but he is not as powerful as we always make it sound. This is as a result of basic misunderstanding of spiritual realities. Sometimes we become our own devils.”
Speaking on how he's maintained his audience, Uncle Ebo Whyte said: "the first and obvious thing is the matter with time. If I say I'm going to start at 7 [pm], I start at 7. So people are able to plan with my shows. They don't have to come and keep waiting and wonder when it's going to start.
The second thing is that we compete with our previous plays. Every quarter I give people a reason to come again. We haven’t lowered the standard. And then the themes we pick are relevant and current. Ghanaians can recognize themselves in the stories we tell,” he said.
He added that Roverman will constantly raise the bar in order to stay relevant even in the future.
The launch of the book ushered in his new play – Rejected, the 32nd consecutive quarterly production from Roverman Productions since 2008. It tells the story of a man whose attempt at getting a better life, by all means is foiled by his best friend and his phone passwords.
The drama is expected to be repeated on the 3rd of December. It is a mix of a cheating spouse, a confused spouse, a materialistic man of God, a feisty mother and a drunk friend who cannot keep his mouth shut.
The event was chaired by UT’s Prince Kofi Amoabeng and emceed by Mamavi Owusu Aboagyye. Also present were Oheneyere Dr. Gifty Anti, Godwin Avenorgbor and Kwaku Sintim Misa popularly known as KSM.
