Samsung unveils Galaxy S8 and S8+
Samsung Electronics has officially launched its Galaxy S8 and S8+ onto the Ghanaian market.
The design of the S8 and S8+ versions is different from any Samsung smartphone ever made as they come in four different colours; arctic silver, orchid grey, midnight black, maple gold.
Added to this, is a smooth polished aluminium frame, Gorilla Glass 5 front and back, IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. It also has a massive 5.8″ inch screen for the S8 and a 6.2″ 18.5:9 aspect ratio for the S8+ with sleek curved screens and 4k display.
One of the major additions to the S8 and S8+ is Bixby, Samsung’s new Virtual Assistant. The Bixby is activated with a dedicated button on the left side of the phone. Both phones run on Android 7.1 Nougat and the seamless Samsung Grace UX design.
As the latest in The Galaxy S series, the Samsung S8 and Samsung 8+ have the latest Snapdragon 835--the first smartphone in the world to get this much processing power and speed.
The storage is now 64GB, double of what the Galaxy S7 came with. It also has 4GB RAM as well as an expandable storage of microSD card slot for up to 256G.
Another exciting feature about the new phones is the USB Type-C, which allows for fast charging experience, with a 5.0 Bluetooth.
Security wise, it has a fingerprint reader, an iris recognition and face recognition, which prevents unauthorised access.
One of the most interesting features of the phones is its screen. Unlike any Samsung smartphone, more space has been created on the screen for larger viewing pleasure. The usually Samsung key buttons are now imbedded into it.
Michael Kwadade-Cudjoe, Field Testing Engineer, Samsung West Africa, explained that the devices have been tested to ensure that are apt for Ghana’s conditions.
“When we test phones here before releasing them, it means that in terms of compatibility issues, we won’t have any,” he assured.
The price of the S8+ is about GH3990, while the S8 is going for GH3527.
“Indeed, it is not just any smartphone. This might be the best of the Galaxy S series and perhaps the best possible comeback from the controversies caused by the S7.
This is what all smartphone users have been looking out for. Yes. And I’m talking about the all the new Galaxy S8 and S8+,” he said.
