Atomic junction Gas explosion: Death toll reaches 7, several injured
A total of seven people so far have been confirmed dead with 132 others sustaining varying degrees of injury from Saturday night's gas explosion which occurred at the Atomic Junction in Accra, an official statement from the Presidency, has said.
Of the injured, 64 persons have been discharged from the hospitals while 68 others are still being treated.
Meanwhile, The President, in a series of tweets, expressed his condolences with the victims of the explosion and assured Ghanaians that such incidents will never happen again.
"My deepest condolences to the families of the bereaved, and I wish the injured speedy recovery", he said. "Government is resolved, now more than ever, to ensure such an incident does not occur again".
Meanwhile, the President stated that he had dispatched the Vice President to the scene of the incident to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
