Zen Petroleum implements NPA Low Sulphur diesel directive ahead of time

Zen Petroleum working together with its Bulk Distribution Company (BDC) partner and BP Trading is the first Oil Marketing Company to introduce Low Sulphur Diesel to its customers in Ghana.

Eleven million litres of 38 ppm Low Sulphur Diesel was delivered into the country at the weekend, exclusively for the customers of Zen and the company is happy to have taken the lead to support the National Petroleum Authority directive to move from 3000 ppm Sulphur Diesel to Low Sulphur Diesel in Ghana.

Zen is the 4th largest Oil Marketing Company in Ghana and is very well known for delivering a superior consumer experience with premium quality fuel and lubricants and an unmatched customer service. The commercial sector is a significant operating area of Zen and this is a sector where high technology engines are mostly used, requiring the best in fuel quality. Zen spends significant resources working with suppliers and deploying systems to ensure that only the cleanest quality diesel is supplied to its consumers.

Zen was very appreciative when the NPA took the leadership role to introduce Low Sulphur Diesel into Ghana to improve air quality and health of citizens. Children and the elderly are most at risk when it comes to breathing related health problems, and Ghana will be the winner with the move to Low Sulphur Diesel by the NPA. Zen worked with its supply chain partners to design a competitive value chain for Zen Low Sulphur Diesel, which will ultimately reduce downtime and overall cost of ownership for motor vehicle and equipment owners.

Zen Low Sulphur Diesel fuel will enable the use of advanced cleaner technology engines and vehicles in Ghana, resulting in significantly improved air quality. Currently most vehicles with advanced emissions control devices perform poorly when run on the high sulphur diesel available. This has even forced some vehicle franchisees to avoid introducing such high technology vehicles in Ghana.

Consistent with the track record of Zen to provide the best value in fuels and lubricants to consumers, Zen will be undertaking other exercises to demonstrate delivered value to customers with Zen Low Sulphur Diesel, in the areas of; extended engine life, reduced ventilation cost in underground mines, improved fuel economy, improved air quality and health and improved lubricants performance.
