WAICA AGM Set for Gambia
The West Africa Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) has confirmed the hosting of the 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Banjul, The Gambia, from April 23 to 25.
This year’s AGM will held under the theme, “Regional Integration Through Uniform Compliance”.
About 200 delegates from the Anglophone sub-region have registered to attend this year’s AGM, which will be held at the Cozy Karabaa Beach Hotel, located in The Gambian Capital.
Mr. William Coker, Chief Executive Officer of WAICA told B&FT that the Association has assembled a crack team of speakers for this year’s conference.
These speakers include Alhaji Mohammed Kari, Commissioner of Insurance, Nigeria, Mr. Pa Alieu Sillah – Commissioner of Insurance, The Gambia.
Mr. Coker explained further that discussants lined up for the topic “Uniform Regional Compliance in the industry: the pros and cons of current regulatory framework in West Africa,” will include tried and tested professionals both from the broking and direct underwriting sectors.
They include Shaibu Ali, Managing Director, KEK Reinsurance Brokers, Ghana.
The rest are Eddie Efekoba, Managing Director, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Company – Nigeria, and Lady Isioma Chukwuma, Managing Director – Nigeria Reinsurance Company.
“There will also be an open forum which will be chaired by Mr. Rotimi Fashola, President of WAICA and Group Managing Director of IGI, Nigeria,” Mr Coker added.
