Wapic Insurance gives back
Education, they say, is the key to success. It is in view of this and as part of efforts to alleviate obstacles less privileged children in the society face, Wapic Insurance Ghana Limited has extended its support to the Future First Academy in Old Fadama, Agbogbloshie.
The support to the school included donation of Students’ dual desks, teachers’ tables and chairs, ceiling fans, white boards, library benches, book shelves, among others.
Established about 10 years ago, the chief aim of Future First Academy is to provide education for the less privileged in the society. The school is dominated by wards of porters (popularly called ‘Kayayeis’) whose main source of livelihood is from carrying items of people for a fee. It’s the only school in the Old Fadama Community which provides educational facilities to the inhabitants of the community. The school provides education to about 215 pupils.
Presenting the items, the Managing Director of Wapic Insurance, Mr. Adedayo Arowojolu mentioned that, the donation was done to support the daily running of the school and marks the beginning of a continued relationship between the company and the school. He also urged the students present to seize the opportunity and make use of the supplies availed to them to make learning conducive. He also encouraged all the students to focus on their education as this is the bedrock for building a great nation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Project Coordinator of the school, Mr. Jamal Issaka, expressed appreciation for the support it has received from the insurance company. He added, “It is really thoughtful and heart-warming for Wapic Insurance to come to our aid, considering the many institutions that exist and require same support. What has been witnessed today is nothing short of giving opportunities to these children to be their very best.”
