MTN’s investment in its network yields positive results
MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunications service provider in the country has been awarded for its remarkable network investment at the 7th edition of the Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) held in Accra.
The awards presented at the GITTA event are the Mobile Operator of the Year, 4G LTE Provider of the Year and Cloud Service Provider of the Year. The Information Technology team in MTN was also adjudged the IT Team of the Year.
This unprecedented feat at a single ceremony speaks to the fact that MTN is committed to leading the delivery of a bold new digital world while continuing to invest in the Network to provide digital services to its customers.
MTN Ghana became the first mobile telecom company in Ghana to offer 4G LTE service in Ghana.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr. Mohammed Rufai, Chief Technical Officer at MTN Ghana said, “MTN continues to invest in the network to ensure we provides seamless and optimum service for our customers. With the vision to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world, MTN acquired 4G license in December 2015 and invested US$18m to roll out 475 4G LTE sites across the country covering all regional capitals and key towns.
MTN is further investing USD8.2 million on LTE in 2017 to further expand the service with additional LTE sites, we have a total of 647 sites delivering LTE service today..“ Winning Mobile Operator of the Year award, says it all.
In the area of cloud services, MTN Ghana provides one of the most efficient and reliable services in the country. The MTN Cloud service gives users access to a comprehensive range of user friendly and self-service ICT-based solutions to meet their ever-growing business needs.
Being the pioneer of cloud based services in Ghana with Cisco WebEx service, MTN has made it possible for clients with Mobile Money wallets to purchase software applications on the cloud through their Mobile Money wallets as an alternative to a Visa Credit/Debit Card.
MTN Ghana continues to lead the telecommunications space in Ghana as it makes substantial investments with the aim of sustaining the provision of high quality network services across the country. As of 2016, MTN Ghana has invested over US $3.47 billion in network and information technology infrastructure.
