Finance Ministry holds consultation on 2018 budget
The Ministry of Finance will tomorrow hold a stakeholder consultation towards the preparation of the 2018 Budget.
The first consultation, is a high-level breakfast meeting with top executives in the Services, Agriculture and Industry sectors to assess the impact of the economic policies in the 2017 budget and also solicit for inputs into the 2018 Budget.
The second consultation, will be with Trade and Business Associations. Both meetings are under the theme: “Building Partnership for Economic Development and Growth’’
The Stakeholder Consultations, according to the Ministry, are organized in accordance with section 21 (1) (a) of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016, Act 921, which states that “The Minister shall in consultation with the relevant stakeholders, prepare the proposed annual budget not later than 1st October of each financial year” and are a platform for promoting citizens’ participation and transparency and accountability in public expenditure management.
The forum will focus on gathering the perspectives of stakeholders to shape economic policies in the 2018 and the medium-term budget, with the view to ensuring that government and citizens’ move in tandem to create the enabling environment for business to thrive, create jobs and move Ghana beyond Aid.
