Sign MoUs with local businesses - Siaw Agyepong
The Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has urged policy makers to give more chance to local businesses in order to boost the local economy.
According to him, the way to accelerate development from the local level is to engages more Ghanaians in all the sectors of the economy, by signing agreements with these businesses.
“I want to see a day when they will sign an MoU with local businesses in the railway sector, ports, roads, instead of foreign businesses.
The government can mobilise ten local businesses and assign them to a particular project, for instance the railway sector by giving them the support.”
Speaking on the topic, ‘Improvement of the Business environment through regulatory reform: Removing bottle necks in the current business environment’, he stated that leaders must guide and give opportunities to businesses.
“Leaders must guide us and give us appetite to grow. If you want us to go into factory, give us equipment, not money.”he said at a panel discussion at the 2017 Ghana Economic Forum.
He also maintained that the country can be developed only if they are given opportunity to do so, and emphasized that “no foreigner loves our country more than us.”.
