Nigeria wins 2017 StanChart's West Africa Regional Tournament
Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited, hosted the West African regional tournament of the Standard Chartered Trophy 2017 Tournament at the Lizzy Sports Complex.
Team Super 7 from Nigeria emerged winners after an entertaining round of soccer, beating Team Multichoice from Ghana to clinch this year’s regional trophy.
Team Guinness from Cameroon also competed in the regional tournament.
Nigeria will represent West Africa at the Standard Chartered Trophy Final in Anfield. This is a four-day all expense paid trip to the UK.
In addition, the team will receive a professional training session with LFC legends and coaches to help them prepare for the “Final’ tournament.
Liverpool Football Club Legend, Jason McAteer, was the special guest at the regional tournament. As part of the programme he held a soccer clinic for children of clients and staff of the bank, as well as playing in the staff final tournament.
He charged the team from Nigeria to become the first West African side to win the competition.
The Standard Chartered Trophy Tournament is an international 5-aside football tournament that provides local markets with a platform to actively engage its clients, staff and stakeholders. It is hinged on the the Bank’s sponsorship of Liverpool FC.
Winners of competitions in the various markets receive an all expenses paid trip to Anfied, the home of Liverpool FC to join other winners to play in a Finals tournament to determine The Standard Chartered Trophy Winner in a particular year.
Standard Chartered has been the main sponsors of Liverpool Football Club in the English Premier League since 2010.
