The 25th anniversary celebration of Riis Memorial School at Dansoman continued with a homecoming and family day out at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra last Saturday.

The event brought together students, alumni and parents to celebrate the silver milestone of the school with a highly attended funfair.

Mr. Kwesi Ofosu –Apea, Director of Riis Memorial School, said the main aim of the homecoming and funfair is to enable the current students socialise with alumni who have excelled in their various disciplines after leaving the gates of the school.

“We are here to have fun with the students, their parents and the alumni as we all belong to the same family,” he noted.

Awal Mohammed, also known as Sakordie Jnr. and Donkor Clement (Dee Cee) of Talented Kids - known to be the best young rappers in Ghana - rapped to keep the place very lively.

Kwame Zaggy, Wal B and Kuku Ansong also helped entertain the audience with the great songs to make the day seem like what it was supposed to be. Nana Boro set the park on fire, dishing out his popular tunes to the excitement of all present.

There were musical interludes, choreography, cultural displays by the old students and reggae dances.

The children had fun to the fullest and exhibited their talent as to how well they could twist and turn their waists as they danced to the rhythm of the various styles of music.

Mr. Ofosu-Apea asked all present to participate fully in all other activities associated with the school’s anniversary, including Social Responsibility and Clean up exercises, Career guidance, medical screening, and blood donations.

There will also be Durbar and Graduation/Founders day 2010 on the 8th September 2010 at the Riis School.
